Faces in the Crowd

People in the Streets
Back to Woodford Folk Festival

Back to Maleny Folk Festival

People are the most important part of any event and Woodford is no exception. Here we see every possible combination of race, culture, age, taste and talent.

I have to admit to the people being the most fascinating attraction for me personally, as I wander around the festival site soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying the thousands of varied and colourful folk doing exactly the same thing. Colour is the operative word at this gathering of folk music enthusiasts. Often, it seems that the more radical the style, the better and sometimes you do see the weekend "ferals" taking a break from their workaday occupations as lawyers, accountants, etc., and stepping out in their "designer rags". All good clean fun.

The following images are just a few from my collection and I will try to change them often, so drop by whenever you feel curious & have another lookie or email me if I am slow to change them.

The recycle(d) girls are dressed in robes made from recycled rubbish and they tour the site picking up the junk. The Lovely Recycled Ladies It was such a great show even the aliens landed to participate. Alien Folkies
Some of us make a statement with fashion, others with their hairstyle. Individuality foremost The colourful stalls scattered all throughout the festival added to the feeling and supplied all the essential items one can't do without. Shopping is a delight for the senses.
The Children's Festival co-ordinated by Becky Wandell is always a hive of activity. A new giant web is under way here. Kids Web The ever popular Xylosax leads the Children's Parade through the festival site. Xylosax - Musical Delight.
Centrepiece in the Children's Parade is the Dragon, a joint effort made by the kids throughout the festival. Kid's Dragon Street theatre is also a very important part of the festival. A conservatively dressed performer drums his way through the throng. You know what they say about drummers?
Free enterprise abounds.
